This Privacy Policy describes how LangLocker ("LangLocker", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application. LangLocker is operated by Adams Aimé-Désiré, an independent developer ("the Developer").

By downloading or using LangLocker, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Summary

LangLocker is a language-learning app that locks distracting apps on your device until you complete a short learning exercise. We built LangLocker to be privacy-first:

• Most of your data stays on your device.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We cannot see which apps you choose to block.
• We do not run our own user-tracking servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Learning preferences. During onboarding you may provide information such as your first name, target language, current level, motivations, and how much time you spend on your phone. This is used to personalize your learning experience.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• App usage and progress data. Your learning progress, streaks, exercise results, and settings are stored locally on your device.
• Device information. Basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, and app version, used for compatibility and troubleshooting.
• Subscription and purchase data. When you subscribe, purchase, or interact with our paywall, our subscription provider (Superwall) and Apple process information related to your purchase and entitlement status.

2.3 Microphone and speech recognition

• LangLocker includes pronunciation exercises. With your permission, the app accesses your microphone and uses speech recognition to evaluate how you pronounce words and phrases.
• Speech recognition may be performed on-device or by Apple's speech recognition services, depending on your device and settings. When Apple's servers are used, your audio is processed according to Apple's privacy policy. We do not store your voice recordings on our servers.
• You can decline or revoke microphone and speech recognition permissions at any time in your device settings. Pronunciation features will be unavailable without them.

2.4 Screen Time / Family Controls (app blocking)

• LangLocker uses Apple's Family Controls / Screen Time framework to block the apps you select.
• The apps you choose to block are represented by opaque tokens provided by Apple. These tokens are stored locally on your device (within a secure app group). They cannot be read by us, and we never see the names of the apps you block or transmit this information off your device.

2.5 Notifications

• With your permission, LangLocker sends notifications (for example, to let you know your apps are locked and to prompt you to learn a phrase to unlock them). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Provide and operate the app's core features (app blocking, learning exercises, pronunciation feedback).
• Personalize your learning plan and experience.
• Track your progress, streaks, and statistics.
• Manage subscriptions, purchases, and access to premium features.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. How Your Information Is Stored

• On-device storage. Your learning data, preferences, blocked-app selections, and most settings are stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms provided by the operating system.
• Secure storage. Sensitive values (such as authentication identifiers) are stored using your device's secure storage (Keychain).
• Because much of your data lives only on your device, uninstalling the app may permanently delete that data.

5. Third-Party Services

LangLocker relies on a limited number of third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Apple — Screen Time / Family Controls, speech recognition, App Store purchases, and notifications. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Superwall — paywall presentation and subscription management. See Superwall's Privacy Policy.

These providers may process limited data on our behalf as part of delivering their services. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices of these third parties.

6. Payments and Subscriptions

• Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment details (such as your credit card number).
• Subscription management, renewals, and cancellations are handled through your Apple account settings.

7. Children's Privacy

LangLocker is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Deletion — request deletion of your personal information.
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate information.
• Opt-out — control permissions (microphone, notifications, Screen Time) at any time in your device settings.

Because most data is stored locally, you can delete the majority of your data simply by uninstalling the app. To exercise any other rights, contact us at the email below.

U.S. residents (including California)

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). You will not be discriminated against for exercising any of your privacy rights.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the app's features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including using the operating system's secure storage facilities. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Users

LangLocker is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, any limited information processed by our third-party providers may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your own.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be communicated within the app. Your continued use of LangLocker after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
